The BD-Power BrakeLoc Heat Riser Control 1030755 is a quick and easy way to add engine braking to your 1994-2003 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke. Improving retarding horsepower from 5 RHP when the clutch is not engaged, to 200RHP when engaged, this controller is a great solution for light towing. This control unit get wired into the EBPV control wire that actuates the factory valve into an electronically-controlled exhaust brake. Note that, because the EBPV is activated hydraulically, there is generally a 2-3 second delay between the time the valve is turned and engine retarding occurs.
